Ownership, Revenues Sources and Management

The National Journal of Health Sciences (NJHS) operates under a fully non-commercial, institutionally funded publishing model.  The journal is owned and funded by the National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation, Karachi, Pakistan.

This institutional funding covers all operational expenses of the journal, including but not limited to:

  • Editorial office management
  • Manuscript submission and tracking systems
  • Peer review coordination
  • Copyediting and typesetting
  • Printing
  • Website hosting and maintenance
  • Digital archiving and indexing support


The funding body does not receive financial return, profit-sharing, or commercial benefit from the journal’s operations.

Editorial Independence and Management

In accordance with the core principles of ICMJE, COPE, and WAME:

The Editor-in-Chief has full authority and final responsibility over editorial decisions.

Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

The funding institution exercises no influence over:

  • Manuscript acceptance or rejection
  • Selection of peer reviewers
  • Editorial board appointments
  • Publication timing
  • Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern

A formal separation is maintained between the journal’s editorial processes and the administrative or financial operations of the funding institution.

Editors are protected from undue pressure or interference, and any attempt to influence editorial decisions is handled according to COPE guidance.
